Meet Marco: Osteopath and Massage Therapist By Day, Drummer By Night

Hey! I’m Marco Alvarez, and I’m super excited to be the newest member of the Bodysmiths team.

My Why

Before stepping into the world of osteopathy, I started out as a personal trainer and sports massage therapist. I’ve always loved working with people in the gym helping them push their limits, get stronger, and feel more confident in their bodies. But over time, I noticed something that really stuck with me: loads of motivated gym-goers were being held back by injuries. Whether it was shoulder pain, a dodgy knee, or lower back issues, they just couldn’t train the way they wanted to and that was frustrating to watch.

I’ve felt that frustration firsthand too. During a bodybuilding competition prep, I injured my wrist and it completely threw me off. It was painful, limiting, and honestly, just really annoying when I was trying to stay focused and disciplined with training. That experience gave me a deeper understanding of what it’s like to be injured when your whole routine and goals revolve around your body performing at its best. It also sparked a shift in me. I realised I didn’t just want to help people get fit. I wanted to help them stay injury free, recover faster, and move better overall. That’s what led me to osteopathy. I was drawn to its hands-on, whole-body approach and the way it looks at the bigger picture, not just the symptoms.

Outside The Clinic

In my spare time I’m usually behind a drum kit. I’ve been playing drums for years. It’s my creative outlet and a great way to stay balanced. Plus, it keeps my coordination sharp (which definitely comes in handy as an osteo!)

I’m really looking forward to working with people who want to feel, move, and perform better whether that’s in the gym, on stage, or just day-to-day. If you’re dealing with pain, niggles, or something that’s holding you back, I’d love to help you get back on track.

See you around the clinic!

Marco
